Parenting can be a tricky journey.

But it can also be one of wonder, magic and love.

There is no instruction manual for your child - sure there are a lot of books out there that can give you advice, hints and tips on raising your children.

But those books are not much help when you have a toddler that is having a meltdown in the supermarket, or your 6 year old refuses to go to school, or there are conflicts at the dinner table over the eating of that broccoli.

That's where CALM PARENT, CALM CHILD and I come in - I have many years of hands on, lived experience to share with you and help you to remember the wonder and magic that being a mother brings.

As a mother of 3 (now) wonderful adults, and grandmother to 5 I get you - I understand the challenges of parenting and caring for the next generation. Parts of my journey have been truly amazing, magical and priceless as I watched my children grow and discover their world.

There were also days when things were tough, I will be honest.

-
watching my child drop to the floor of the supermarket wailing loudly because I wouldn't buy the "thing"
-
getting to the end of the day as a stay at home mumma and realising I had not brushed my hair or my teeth since I got out of bed that morning
-
feeling so overwhelmed at times that I just sat on the floor and cried
-
walking through my days like a zombie because sleep was something that just didn't happen for me
-
feeling inadequate and worthless because other women around me told me how I was lacking as a mother/wife
-
holding my baby in a state of anxiety and despair and hoping that his temperature would drop and feeling helpless
-
wondering how I would ever get everything done - the housework, the washing that just kept piling up, feeding everyone healthy, nutritious food

And that was just the morning!!

On top of that, every child is an individual and what worked for baby number 1 is not working for the next one - who changed the rules???

We also have so much more pressure on us as parents with the advent of social media.
Scrolling through the multitude of posts showing glowing, happy families in their immaculate homes, swanning around on a beach or just looking fashionable and fabulous - every day!!

You don't see many posts of a parent who is exhausted, or children with grubby faces and unwashed clothes, or the chicken nuggets and chips again for dinner.

And that's where CALM PARENT, CALM CHILD comes in.

It's a real, raw and honest look at parenting and how we can not only survive the journey but begin enjoying the ride - seeing ourselves, our children and our communities thriving.

Non judgemental, safe, non critical and welcoming, I offer you a space of coming together as carers of children and discussing life in all its crazy, messy glory.

This group is a reminder and a remembering that when we are tapped into ourselves and are removed from the outside noise, parenting becomes a whole lot easier.

For life with children can be a wonderful journey - one full of joy, imagination, discovery and magic.
If you have ever spent time in nature with a little one, it is a joyful lesson in mindfulness as all the world around them is full of treasures, amazement and wonder.

When we surrender and see our children as magical humans, it also allows us to give ourselves the gift of healing in re-parenting ourselves through the raising of our children, helping to heal what we may have needed or lacked as a child. When this happens, we begin to see the journey through different eyes.
