To all the women I have been....
the small child
lost in the haze
of maternal weariness
blending into the day to day
the young woman
who was to taught to believe
she was unworthy
and sank into her own mind
communed with those
that others could not see
the near adult
who questioned the narrative
and was silenced
told to conform or be shunned and shamed
given a box in which to stay
the free spirited hippie girl
looking for meaning
in a meaningless world
of relentless consumerism
and greed
the mother, young and eager
who found joy and laughter
with the young ones she bore
mystery and imagination sparked anew
the woman who struggled to understand
the intense grief she encountered
when one she loved departed, so young
igniting in her a quest renewed
to understand and make sense
of the Universe, Source and the meaning of life
the one who donned
the hat of the corporation
blindly believing that happiness
could be found in material wealth
only to be continuously denied
the empty promises they sprouted
the gypsy, who threw the corporate hat
to the wind and ran with the seasons
travelling with her soul mate
discovering the wonders that Mother Earth
continuously delivered to those
who wished to see
beyond the grey walls of suburbia and cities
the grandmother
heart filled again with a love
that knew no bounds
and awakened again the magic
that she saw through the eyes
of the little ones
who sat with her and imagined
filled with wonder and curiosity
the woman who stepped
into the depths of her shadow
wrenching dark shadows
that helped her remember her true sense of self
cracked wide open the suffocating beliefs
she had been fed
until the light entered
and she opened to the depth of self love
that had been there all along
and now shone through
she gave thanks for all those women
she had been
for without them, she would not be
the woman she was now
the Maga, the embodied feminine
knowing, wise, calm and courageous
one who knew that she was here
to help awaken in others
the deep connection, magic and love
she felt within, one with All
she was home
she was whole
she was Love
In peace, love and magic
